It’s that time of year again – “Wonderful Life” time. Every December I like to watch the lovely old movie again, it helps me reflect on the year gone by.
If you’re one of the very few people never to have seen the film, after ‘doing the right thing’ his whole life, the hero George Bailey ends up still stuck in a 2-horse town, running the local Savings & Loan. After a mistake sees the business under threat, a desperate George feels his life has been worthless, and regrets all the opportunities he has missed.
And as he sits there, miserably reviewing his dissatisfaction, he is joined by his guardian angel, who shows him the positive effect he has had on the little town, and quite how much he has achieved.
At the end of yet another fast-passing year, it can be very easy to focus on the things we haven’t quite managed to do. And that’s why watching Frank Capra’s “It’s A Wonderful Life” at the end of the year is a good reminder to take stock of the transformations I *have* managed to achieve in the year, for myself and my clients.
I find it a very good way to remember the difference I’m making – what about you, what have *you* been achieving this year?
