We British are very good at hiding our light. From a very early age, we are told not to show off. Even (maybe especially) when we are very good at something. We are not supposed to make other people feel inferior, because it’s big-headed to think we might be superior.
But here’s the thing: being great at something doesn’t mean we are superior to people who can’t do it as well as us. It just means that’s our particular genius. And they will doubtless have their own unique genius, something that we might be completely useless at.
People who think that having a particular talent makes them somehow superior to those who are differently able are basically just arrogant a-holes. Showing up in our genius is not about being superior, it’s simply about showing people what we can do magically well.
Hiding it serves nobody – especially the people we’re here to help! You have to show your genius off for people to see it. And yes, even show off a bit, so know exactly how good you are.
So go on – stop being so British (even if you’re not from the UK) – why not show up and show off a little!
